As well as the historic capital of Edinburgh you will also explore the southern Highland region of Perthshire, the rugged mountain village of Braemar in the Cairngorms National Park famed for its Royal connections then continue to St Andrews in the Kingdom of Fife, one of the most historically important towns in Scotland.

Breathe in fresh mountain air, stroll through the glorious gardens of a Royal Castle, discover cathedral ruins, sip warming Scotch whisky and hear stories from the Scottish Reformation.

Itinerary

Arrive at Edinburgh Airport where you will be met by your private driver guide.

From the airport you’ll travel directly to Stirling Castle, one of the most historically important castles in Scotland due to its location.

Transfer north into the Scottish Highlands, your first stop is the historic town of Dunkeld. Here you can have a stroll around the town, the riverside and the cathedral and find out the significance of the area in early Celtic Christianity.

After lunch in Dunkeld you’ll transfer through the mountains of the Cairngorms National Park to the village of Braemar in Royal Deeside.

This morning visit Braemar Castle, built in 1628 this fortress is steeped in history from its early days as a strategically positioned hunting lodge to a military garrison during the Jacobite Risings.

After exploring the castle enjoy a sumptuous lunch in Braemar.

In the afternoon it will be time to meet with a local expert to go on a walk around the village looking for edible goodies and learning about the uses of many plants, mushrooms and trees. We end the session with cocktail making (and drinking) using foraged ingredients and homemade tinctures.

Balmoral has remained a favoured retreat for the Royal Family and King Charles III enjoys spending time here in the summer and is very involved with the running of the estate.

Choose to walk around the grounds, extraordinary gardens and have a look around the informative exhibition. For an more in depth experience join a 2 hour expedition tour of the grounds by Land Rover (just let us know when you are booking your tour).

Royal Lochnagar Distillery, nestled near Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands, is renowned for its exceptional single malt whisky. Established in 1826, this distillery has a rich history and is closely associated with the British Royal Family, having been granted the Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria. Visitors can enjoy guided tours that delve into the whisky-making process, offering tastings of their exquisite spirits.

Today you’ll transfer south to the town of St Andrews. Not only is St Andrews famous for golf but it has an incredible history as well.

Join a local guide on a stroll around the main sights of St Andrews and discover things you may not see visiting yourself. Explore St Andrews as you walk in the footsteps of golfing legends, royals, heretics who were burned at the stake, famous cats and those who live in St Andrews today.

Later you’ll make your way to Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city.

Explore the hidden lanes and cobbled streets of Edinburgh’s historic Old Town.
With St Giles Cathedral and the centre point and Edinburgh Castle a prominent feature in Edinburgh’s landscape, the Old Town is steeped with history and remains a vibrant and lively part of the city.
Visit The Palace of Holyroodhouse, situated at the end of the Royal Mile. Explore the Palace’s close associations with some of Scotland’s most well-known historic figures such as Mary, Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie, and learn how today it is used by The King when carrying out official engagements in Scotland.
Your local guide will show some of the hidden gems of this wonderful part of the city, as well as some popular points of interest.
