Meet Kirsty

Founder of An Turas Heritage Expeditions

Growing up in the Highlands of Scotland, I have always loved exploring the mountains, lochs, rivers and forests of Scotland and further afield. Over the years I have become fascinated with the remote ruined villages and crofts of the Highlands and Islands and I’ve developed a passion for our amazing Neolithic sites (of which we have many).
My love of learning about Celtic history and heritage continues to grow the more I learn and explore.

FAQs

Are all of your tours private?

Yes, we only offer private multi-day tours. Each itinerary is designed just for you based on your interests and your reasons for visiting Scotland.

Can I self-drive?

We specialise in providing guided tours as we feel that this is truly the best way to make the most of your time in Scotland and the way we can add the most value to your tour. Our guides are our greatest asset that will bring our unique culture and history to life.

What will the weather be like?

We wish we knew the answer to this!

To ensure that you are able your trip as much as possible we highly recommend you come prepared for sun, wind and rain! A waterproof jacket, waterproof over-pants and good sturdy footwear are an absolute must, but hopefully you’ll also need your sunscreen too. We will provide an essential kit list prior to your travel to Scotland.

In the words of the great Billy Connelly ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes’.

How active are your tours?

It all depends on what type of tour you’d like to have. If you are comfortable with hiking a couple of miles it means we can take you to some of the more remote sites and provide a somewhat more immerive experience, away from the busier sites.

If you love to be active just let us know and we will make sure we weave in some beautiful hikes or even some sea kayaking or cycling.

If you are less mobile or don’t like to hike don’t worry, there are plenty of sites that are accessible for most abilities and require minimal effort to get to.
